Do Meaningful Things; Be Approachable
October 20, 2022

Vicky (VM) Brasseur has been in the tech sector for more than a couple of decades and in free and open source software for more than thirty years. She's a former VP of the Open Source Initiative, current vice chair of the board of directors of Linux Professional Institute, a PragProg author, and the Open Source Series Editor for the Pragmatic Bookshelf. She also wrote the only book on the market that teaches readers how and why to contribute to open source software.

We recently sat down with Vicky to discuss her book, the history of free and open source software, how to identify high-performing software, and how individuals and companies are getting open source software right and wrong. Not only did Vicky shed light on common misconceptions and missteps, but she also gave us practical advice for overcoming real-world hurdles and doing meaningful things in an approachable way.

You can read the full interview with Vicky at https://forum.devtalk.com/t/spotlight-vm-brasseur-author-interview-and-ama/78663/2. And while you're there, be sure to drop a question in the AMA. You'll get a personal answer back, and you'll also get a chance to win a free ebook copy of Forge Your Future with Open Source.

And if AMAs aren't your thing, use the promo code devtalk.com for 35% off Forge Your Future with Open Source at pragprog.com.
