Programming Groovy

Now in Beta.

Groovy brings you the best of both worlds: an agile, dynamic language that runs on the rich framework of the Java Platform. Groovy preserves Java semantics and extends the JDK to give you true dynamic language capabilities. News from the Pragmatic Programmers

Greetings!

It’s a Groovy New Year with these two brand-new titles from the Pragmatic Bookshelf.

Two, yes two, new Groovy titles.

Venkat Subramaniam, co-author of the award-winning Practices of an AgileDeveloper, now brings us Programming Groovy: Dynamic Productivity for the Java Developer. You’ll see how to use Groovy to do advanced programming including using Meta Programming, Builders, Unit Testing with Mock objects, working with Databases and creating your own Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs).

Scott Davis, author of the recent (and in color!) GIS for Web Developers adds to our grooviness with Groovy Recipes: Greasing the Wheels of Java, a “show me the code” set of recipes that will get you up to speed and productive fast.

We’ve got a lot planned for the new year, so stay tuned. Once you’ve set up an account on our new website, you can hook up an RSS reader or manage your subscription to this mailing list.

Thanks for your continued support,

Andy & Dave
