Refactor Your Wetware

Now in Beta

Software development happens in your head; not in an editor, IDE, or design tool. You’re well educated on how to work with software and hardware, but what about wetware—your own brain?

In this eagerly anticipated book by Andy Hunt, you’ll see how to harness pragmatic thinking and learning. You’ll learn how our brains are wired, and how to take advantage of your brain’s architecture. You’ll discover new tricks and tips to learn more faster, and retain more of what you learn.

News from the Pragmatic Programmers

Greetings!

I’m pleased (and perhaps a bit biased) to announce our 50th title: Refactor Your Wetware is now available as a Beta book.

This is an incredible milestone for the Pragmatic Bookshelf. Thanks to all of you for your diverse interests spanning new languages and new techniques, from Agile methods and project management to Ruby and Rails, Erlang, Dojo and Groovy.

It’s also a personal milestone with my release of the Wetware book. Folks who have heard my talks and keynotes in the past two years have been clamoring for more information on these topics. Here it is.

What is Wetware? Wetware is the highly advanced system inside your head—your brain. It’s the engine and source of everything we do as programmers and technology workers. Hardware and Software alone isn’t enough, Wetware completes the picture.

In this book, we’ll journey together through cognitive and neuroscience, learning and behavioral theory. You’ll discover surprising aspects of how brains work, and take advantage of the system to improve your own learning and thinking skills.

In other news, Groovy Recipes is out of Beta and now available in print. We start shipping the pre-ordered books tomorrow. If you haven’t looked at Groovy yet, now is the time to start.
